Jenny lives in New York - where she moved in the hope of realizing, in vain, her dream of becoming a famous and appreciated singer - and survives by working as a talent agent, overwhelmed by debts and blackmailed by a loan shark. Carmelina is a girl who lives in Callalessa, an unknown village in the deep South of Italy, in a studio apartment that she shares with her very large family. The small reality of the village is too small for her, but Carmelina has managed to find a way out thanks to Marco's love and the passion for music that she shares with her childhood friends. Jenny and Carmelina lead two very distant lives, but fate has decided to put them on the same path: Jenny, in fact, is called to Callalelessa (where she was born) to collect the inheritance of a deceased uncle.
